| RANT/RAVE:
I took the bull by the horns last October and started working with the Working Families Party (WFP), a third party political organization in New York State. I am fed up with complaining and not doing anything about it. I have to say, I did not get my way in November, but at least I tried. I'm busy with music right now, but I'll be staying politically involved - 2006 will be just as important.
More about the WFP: New York is interesting, we have "fusion voting". What this means is that we can vote for a major party candidate, but on a third party line. This does two things. First it shows that you support this candidate, but with special attention to certain ideals. Second it means you aren't throwing away your vote! All fifty states should have this, but currently only eight do! Contact your congress and senate members.
The WFP also raised the NY state minimum wage last year. It's up to $6.75 now. A long battle but a great accomplishment. They also are helping reform the Rockefeller Drug Laws, passing living wage laws, and many more social and economic issues that effect everyday New Yorkers and beyond.
Check them out HERE or on my links page. And give them some money :-)
